Valence is a singer-songwriter named Vincent Dufour creating ‘maximalist’, immersive and eventful music as a way to escape into pop art art-pop.
Close to the definition of an “anti-artist,” or as an excuse to “’get the fuck out”, Valence celebrates the extreme representations of human subjectivity, and answers to those leading us into individualist lives instead of promoting our artistic manifestations.
Inspired by some crazy dreams and some love stories, Valence puts together characters that are poetically rebelling against their already-known faith.
On his very first release: “Cristobal Cartel,” Vincent Dufour runs away from his own cynicism by becoming Cristobal Cartel himself— a persona created and idolized by Vincent. Through Cartel he will break forbidden rules, rediscover the pleasures of the once unknown vices and his intemperate way of loving. Cristobal is an authentic outsider who refuses any neutering of human passions.
